Daytons joke

I was siting with Dayton in the big chair and he turns to me and says

"Will you know me in a week?"
yep

"Will you know me in 2 weeks?"
yep

"will you know me in 1000 weeks?"

me laughing "yes"

"knock knock"

me-"who's there?"


I thought you said you would know me??


LOL!!!!! I laughed so hard!!! Sadie says that one is old but I've never heard it before. Too funny!

Dayton: (oh so serious): Mom, did you know that sometimes you have to say a bad word when you say other words??

Me: Really?? Like what?

Dayton: (pauses, because he will have to say the bad word too) like.......asset

Me:(trying not to giggle )

Dayton: and..........helicopter


Pretty observant for a 5 year old!

Then tonight he and Wyatt were having a classic argument about who needed to clean more in the room and who had done what. It was escalating and getting pretty heated. Dayton was starting to lose it and get screechy finally as a last, lashing resort he puts his little fingers up like claws and screams "ITS SCRATCHY SCRATCHY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was deadly serious as it came out of his mouth, and I had been trying to be a bystander and let them work it out......but I jsut busted up laughing, and at that moment even in his rage, Dayton and Wyatt started laughing too because it was just so dramatically funny. They eventually picked up the argument, but it was a good belly laugh there for the moment.


Wyatt had played over at a new friend's house the other day. While tucking him in that night he called me back over.

W: Mom, can I tell you something just between you and me??
Me: sure, what is it?

W: when I was at A's house today we went in his big brothers room and I saw something
(I'm feeling a wave of panic - oh NO!!)

W: his brother had.......a Greenday poster!

(this is an issue because a couple years ago Cade had bought one without permission at the book fair, and I made him take it back, because it wasn't uplifting - and hello, the guy is wearing eyeliner, not cool!!)

We talked a little (like we had before) about how some people like those things but we just don't need to worry about it, we try to just choose the right no matter what other people do etc etc

Then I walked out with a huge sigh of relief........and grateful that my little guy was sensitive to uplifting things! :D

Funeral chit-chat

As we were walking around the graveyard, I was answering many questions. "Can we dig someone up?" "Is that illegal?" And Wyatt has informed me that one of his burial wishes is to be buried with his head, hands and feet exposed just like the cool skeletons in peoples front yards in their halloween decor. Oh my. Yikes!

PEACH????

Sadie has a new cute little friend who is black. She is also adopted. We had stopped by tonight and after we had left Wyatt asked -

"Why is Sadies friend black, I mean brown, and her mom is....Peach??"

Sadie and I just laughed and laughed. Peach?? LOL!!

Dayton was doing his homework this morning. He was matching capital letters to lowercase. A couple times he was really into it and as he was drawing the line from one to it's match..

"come to papa!"

LOL!!
